MBA and PGDM programs have become wildly popular in India in recent years. Indian institutions have also been on their toes in keeping up with the high standard of management education aspired by the students.
Here are some of India’s finest institutions for MBA and their placement statistics for 2021:
1. IIM Ahmedabad
As one of India’s premier Business Schools, the IIM-A is known for its flagship PGP (MBA) program. With its internationally recognized MBA degree, IIM-A sees applicants from diverse backgrounds and varying work experiences. The average domestic package in 2021 stood at INR 26.13 LPA, while the average international offer was a staggering USD 84,200. With the maximum salaries reaching far ahead of these figures, IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) once again kept up the ante for a placement drive that holds students by surprise each year.
2. IIM Bangalore
Basking in the glory of the IIM (Indian Institute of Management) name, IIM-Bangalore is another one of the best MBA colleges in India. The 2- year MBA program at IIM-Bangalore is the most sought after, with tons of candidates applying for it each year? The 2-day placement drive of 2021 resulted in a 100% success rate, with consulting companies dominating the placement drive. With the official placement figures awaiting to be released this September, it would not be a surprise to see some whopping statistics from the placement drive of 2021.
3. IIM Calcutta
Establishing its dominance on the global level, IIM-Calcutta was the first addition to the Holy Grail of IIMs in 1961. The MBA program at the school follows case-study-based coursework, which has been the most appealing factor to candidates. IIM Calcutta achieved an all-time high average salary figure in 2021 that stood at INR 29 LPA, up from INR 28 LPA from 2020. Despite being the largest batch and the pandemic, the institute managed to achieve a 100% placement rate in 2021. Finance and Consulting dominated the drive, contributing about 50% of the entire placements in 2021.
4. ISB Hyderabad
Established in 2001, the Indian School of Business (ISB) has fast become one of India’s finest private business schools. Now a part of the Triple Accreditation Crown (AMBA, AACSB, EQUIS), ISB hosts a placement drive like none other. Despite the pandemic and fears of a drop in packages, ISB witnessed a healthy 8.32% increase in annual salaries. The average CTC was up from INR 26.12 LPA in 2020 to INR 28.29 LPA in 2021. The virtual placement process held this year saw 1,145 offers made to the students at ISB.
5. SPJIMR Mumbai
An autonomous institution, SPJIMR has accreditation from AMBA as well as AACSB. SPJIMR Mumbai finished its entire 2021 placement drive in 2 days, without the pandemic slowing it down. Consulting roles emerged as the prominent ones, with Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co., and Accenture as the top recruiters. The average CTC was at INR 26.06 LPA, putting it in the league of other premier colleges in the country.
6. XLRI Jamshedpur
The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) has applicants aiming for its PGDM programs in Business Management and Human Relations Management. There was a healthy boost in the average CTC from INR 24.30 LPA in 2020 to INR 25.08 LPA in the 2021 placement drive. Amazon, ITC, and Paytm were among the top recruiters with the most offers.
7. FMS Delhi
The Faculty of Management Studies at the University of Delhi is renowned for its flagship full-time and part-time MBA programs.
In its 2021 placement drive, FMS Delhi achieved the feat of a 100% placement even with the pandemic disruption. The institute recorded an all-time high average salary of INR 26.20 LPA, up 2.3% from last year’s INR 25.60 LPA. With about 77% of the offers made being above INR 20 LPA, FMS Delhi had a hugely successful placement drive for the academic year 2021.
